2010 C.S.A. Shares

We still have a few shares left open for our 2010 season. It is a 24week program running from the end of April to Mid October.
Shares are $504.00 for the season or $100.00 monthly.
We did a practice C.S.A. last year with limited shares and were able to delight our customers. Therefore we are very confident in our ability to delight more people.
We practice “Rhythmic Farming” where we use plants, animals, insects, and the seasons in a symphony that produces, a chemically free, superior flavor and quality.

Fall Surprises

These pictures were taken a week or so ago, and tonight we had a lettuce and sugar pea salad. Yum!! These are available this weekend. We hope we'll see you!

Tomatillos

This is our first year growing tomatillos. It was a cute little plant early in July. Its blossoms looked like tomato blossoms but were hung like little bells on the plant.

The fruits are shiny green when you unwrap their paper-thin covers. They have a great pungent smell. I'm thinking salsa verde. Any recipes?

What's Growing

The gardens are producing and we are putting together baskets for our first few CSA shares. This week's selection included beets, baby carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, onions, garlic, peppers, corn, basil, and "bloody butcher" heirloom tomatoes. (We picked it for the name, but the tomato is tart and tasty!) One basket even got a bonus package of tomatillos. I'm hoping the recipient will create something delicious and share the recipe!
Vegetables we're looking forward to as summer progresses: kale, more of the tender French filet green beans, eggplant from very happy late-season bargain plants - and of course lots of peppers and tomatoes.
